Governance

compenswiss is an independent public law institution of the Confederation with its own legal personality. It is registered with the Commercial Register of the Canton of Geneva.

compenswiss is responsible for managing the assets of the Old-age and Survivors’ insurance (OASI), the Invalidity insurance (InvI) and the Loss of earnings compensation (LEC) schemes. The goals, values and organisation of the institution are described on its website https://compenswiss.ch/en/portrait.

    In the year under review,

    • the Board of Directors held one extraordinary meeting to elect the members of the two specialist committees and appoint their chairpersons. It met four times for ordinary meetings and once for a workshop, during which it discussed the impact of the 13th OASI pension on investment strategy and addressed the issue of governance;
    • the Investment Committee held four regular meetings and one extraordinary meeting. It focused in particular on analysing market trends and asset allocation;
    • The Audit and Personnel Committee held four regular meetings. In addition to the usual subjects relating to audit, finance and personnel, it continued to work on improving governance.

    Remuneration of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee

    In 2024, the total remuneration for the Board of Directors including other ancillary benefits, as determined by the Federal Council, amounted to CHF 369 750 (CHF 350 300 in 2023). The remuneration of the Executive Committee is governed by the compenswiss Personnel Ordinance. The total payroll of the Executive Committee including other variable components amounted to CHF 1 823 709 (CHF 1 743 054 in 2023). Of this amount, the Director received CHF 409 246 in total remuneration including other ancillary benefits (CHF 397 068 in 2023).

    Controls

    In 2024,

    • Ernst & Young SA was the statutory auditor of compenswiss;
    • the internal audit mandate was delegated to KPMG SA;
    • the investment control mandate was also assigned to KPMG SA.

    Communication

    The investment results for compenswiss for 2024, announced at the annual press conference in February 2025, and the operating results for 2024, published in May 2025, are available on the website www.compenswiss.ch, which is updated regularly. The website provides detailed information on the activities of compenswiss and allows all interested parties to stay informed.
